Teagan set to reunite with Hype for the Mackay Cup

Teagan Voorham will combine a Queensland getaway and chase another sunshine state feature this weekend when she reunites with Tasmanian galloper Hype in the $150,000 Mackay Cup (2000m).

Voorham was aboard the Aiden Nunn-trained former European when they scored an impressive 1.8 length victory in the Rockhampton Cup on July 13 and said the timing was ideal.

“My partner and I are actually in Queensland on holidays this week,’’ Voorham said.

“Aiden (Nunn, trainer) called me at the end of last week and said the horse was going to Mackay, I said I’ll be half way there, so I can chuck my saddle in,’’ she said.

Voorham said the feedback was positive leading into the feature.

“Aiden said his main piece of work was better then leading into the Rockhampton Cup,’’ Voorham said.

“The horse has never been to 2000m before, but Aiden is hoping the horse can measure up in the Tasmanian Cup features next year so it should be a good test,’’ she said.

Voorham is coming off a good week from limited opportunities in the saddle riding a winner for the Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle stable at Balaklava last Wednesday before she was back in the winners stall at Murray Bridge on Saturday continuing her good association with the Chis Bieg-trained Annihilate.

The former Chris Waller-trained galloper has been a model of consistency since coming to SA winning four races, Voorham in the saddle for all four victories.

“I’ve had a good week,’’ Voorham said.

“It’s nice to get a couple of winners,’’ she said.
