Mindarie Halidon Cup Preview

Just over a week since he was crowned the 2023-24 John Letts Medallist leading jockey Jake Toeroek will chase a first Mindarie Halidon Cup on Sunday.

Toeroek will partner Yuri Royale in arguably the strongest edition of the race.

The Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Yuri Royale strips fitter for two runs back from a break as he tries to recapture his winning form from earlier in the year when he beat Dual Fuel on the Parks track at Morphettville back in March.

He’s one of three runners for the stable with Campbell Rawiller to partner Montepulciano while stable apprentice Pully Brewster will ride Shakespeare who won the Streaky Bay Cup in March.

This year’s edition also features Morty who won the 2022 John Letts Cup for the Cahill stable and impressive last-start Morphettville winner on the Scent for the Dan Clarken and Oopy MacGillivray stable with apprentice Tala Hutchinson taking the ride.
