The Map has drawn a perfect barrier for Wednesday’s $500,000 Geelong Cup (2400m).
Jamie Kah is back aboard the star South Australian stayer who will jump from gate two in what will be her final lead up to the Melbourne Cup.
“It looks a perfect draw,’’ Dan Clarken said.
“J. Kah back on, it’s a big field so hopefully there is a nice genuine tempo,’’ he said.
The Map had her final gallop on the Murray Bridge course proper on Saturday morning and Clarken said the horse was progressing perfectly towards the first Tuesday in November.
“She looks magnificent, she’s really ticking along perfectly,’’ Clarken added.
“She jumps on the float this afternoon (Monday) and heads over to Ballarat and it’s all systems go towards the big day,’’ he said.
There will also be plenty of SA interest with the Phillip Stokes-trained Amade lining up on the back of an eye-catching effort when third behind Just Fine in the Group 2 Bart Cummings at Flemington last time out.
Amade, who produced a staggering run in this year’s Adelaide Cup when rider Zac Spain lost his irons shortly after the start and still managed to run fourth, faces a wide gate with Daniel Stackhouse to ride.
He finished fourth in the 2021 Geelong Cup behind Tralee Rose before winning last year’s feature at $31 with Spain in the saddle.
