RHINESTONE RORY has been placed at five of 14 starts and was good when beaten 1.1 lengths behind Menace To Sobriety here. He draws a good gate and this does look his chance to break through. DARK HELMET was placed at Murray Bridge behind Tottori two runs back. RIVOLI VIEW has been just behind the placegetters his past couple while MERCURY FLYER improved last time when 2nd at Manangatang. GREY FOLLY is a 38-start maiden but was placed at Balaklava three runs back.

PLAY: RHINESTONE RORY gets every chance here but is short enough.

RACE 2 - 3:20PM Kingsford Hotel Maiden Plate (1500 METRES)

DUBAI FOCUS resumed with a good effort beaten 0.3 lengths behind Enuff Seduction here first-up from a break. He was tried in some better 2yo races early on, he’ll roll forward and does look to get his chance to break through here on his home deck. COMMISSIONS was in the market when beaten 3.3 lengths behind Overstated on the Parks last time and could be the danger. WHISKERS HARBOUR was beaten 5 lengths behind Fine Future at Murray Bridge on debut before an OK effort when 3.7 lengths 8th behind Sundogg at Gawler. HOLPIN was in the market and raced on speed before being beaten 12.7 lengths behind Splash Landing at Balaklava last start, his Mount Gambier effort prior would be in the mix here. STIRRUP CUP was placed at Mildura last time out behind Dartboard and can be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: 10 DUBAI FOCUS, 3 Commission, 14 Whiskers Harbour, 6 Holpin
PLAY: Keen on DUBAI FOCUS looks to be one for multis at the short quote

RACE 3 - 4:00PM Matrix Solar Solutions Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

SHINGLEY BEACH debuts for the Bain/Taylor stable and comes off an impressive 4 length trial win at Strathalbyn. The wide draw is against but she’s clearly a filly with talent who will take beating. BLEAK MID WINTER resumes and was $4 into $2.50 at Moe on debut when beaten 1.5 lengths in 3rd behind Rons Finest Choice. He’s now in the Clarken/O’Shea yard and looks well placed here. SELECTIONS: 12 SHINGLEY BEACH, 1 Bleak Mid Winter, 10 Sectors, 4 Immortal Bliss
PLAY: Keen to watch the market here.

RACE 4 - 4:40PM Irongate Australia Class One Handicap (1500 METRES)

SWYCHO is a former Kiwi who was sent out a $1.40 favourite at his local debut and was good scoring a 1.6 length win over Sakasu on the Parks. He draws out but the rise in trip looks ideal. GRUELLING was $4 into a $3.40 favourite when beaten 3.6 lengths behind Run On at Balaklava. His previous behind Solar Mist at Murray Bridge was solid and he has claim from a good barrier. CUBAN LORD was $5 into $3.70 here last time when beaten 2 lengths behind Easy Beast and should be in the mix. MIST THE DEDLINE won his maiden here at the end of last campaign and trialled well before being well beaten first-up in Saturday grade behind Artful Tawny.

SELECTIONS: 2 SWYCHO, 4 Gruelling, 3 Cuban Lord, 1 Mist The Dedline
PLAY: Keen on SWYCHO.

RACE 5 - 5:20PM Magain Fielke Real Estate Gawler Benchmark 56 Handicap (1700 METRES)

STARTS NOW won a Strathalbyn maiden in May and was beaten 8.4 lengths first-up behind Nullify on the Parks. KING HALSTON is a former Victorian with a win and nine placings from his 20 starts. He was beaten 7.7 lengths in 7th first-up behind Rekero at Balaklava and gets the blinkers again here. Stablemate ESKY resumes and was a Strathalbyn winner in May. He draws a good gate and gets Jason Holder. EASY BEAST was back to winning form here last time.

SELECTIONS: 9 EVENTUALLY, 7 Starts Now, 8 King Halston, 2 Easy Beast
PLAY: Backing EVENTUALLY.

RACE 6 - 5:55PM Coopers Brewery Fillies & Mares Rating 0 - 64 Handicap (Heat of Sportsbet Viddora Series) (1200 METRES)

SHE’S GREYSFUL was a winner here in January beating Shooting For Stars and hasn’t raced since Morphettville in May when beaten 15 lengths behind Pure Paradise at Morphettville in a good form race. She has trialled OK for her return and should run well. Stablemate MYRTLE CREEK has been in the money at both runs here and was beaten 7.7 lengths behind Super Alana last when resuming.

OUR SHINING STAR was a Balaklava winner two starts back and then beaten 4 lengths in 9th behind Cararada at Morphettville. HALF A DRAM has a win from his only race start here on his home deck and was good running 2nd behind Hallstatt at big odds first-up at Morphettville.

RACE 7 - 6:25PM 2024 Holdfast Insurance Brokers Gawler Cup (Heat of Sportsbet Happy Trails Series) (1500 METRES)

SIR KINGSFORD has a good record with six wins from 19 starts and he was game when narrowly beaten behind The Guava on the Parks two runs back and then followed up with a game effort beaten 1.7 lengths in 4th behind Air Assault in the Balaklava Cup. He’s six weeks between runs, draws out but will roll forward and take plenty of catching. LONGER ROUTE is another horse who likes to roll forward and won consecutive races before he looked home only to be run down by Lomax at Morphettville. He will be in the mix. MIDNIGHT MASS was good first-up from a break when beaten 4.7 lengths behind Fancify. He has a good record, has been set for this and can be strong late. ROYAL MILE ran well first-up for his new stable when 5th behind Fancify at Murray Bridge and if he can wind the clock back to his 3yo career he’ll give this a shake. JENKINS was a winner on the Parks in May and comes off a good effort as a $31 chance beaten 0.7 lengths behind Favourite Child on the Parks. He draws a sticky gate. TEST THE LAW has been in good form, in the money at five of seven starts here, and comes out of the Murray Bridge Cup when well beaten behind Maracourt after sitting up on speed. He has the big weight but a good gate. VALIDATED had no luck through the carnival earlier in the year, he was well beaten first-up behind Fancify at Murray Bridge and jumps from the 1200m to 1500m for the first time. BAMYAN BUDDHA continues to race well.

SELECTIONS: 6 MIDNIGHT MASS, 5 Sir Kingsford, 15 Longer Route, 3 Royal Mile
PLAY: Backing MIDNIGHT MASS each-way and a small play on ROYAL MILE at odds.

RACE 8 - 6:55PM Sportsbet Barossa Sprint Benchmark 64 Handicap (Heat of Sportsbet Riziz Series) (1100 METRES)

TOSEN WATER is two from two here on his home deck and hasn’t raced since June when down the track at Morphettville. His first-up record is very good and he’ll run a big race here. LEFT TURN CLYDE comes off a good effort behind the progressive Watchme Win at Murray Bridge beaten 2.7 lengths and he should go close in a race like this. BETSY’S FLAG is a former NSW galloper who was well beaten at her local debut but has been placed 2nd up before. MYOCEAN WARRIOR hasn’t raced since March when 2nd beaten 1.2 lengths behind Fourth Power at Clare. He was placed in a recent Strathalbyn trial and draws a nice barrier. Stablemate JUSTICA’S BONUS has been placed at his past couple the latest beaten 4.7 lengths behind Voltage Point here which is good form for this.
ARTICULATING was easy in betting before breaking his maiden here last time beating Sectors but draws a wide gate.

SELECTIONS: 7 TOSEN WATER, 6 Left Turn Clyde, 11 Betsy’s Flag, 8 Myocean Warrior
PLAY: Backing TOSEN WATER.
