Winning Post-1500m: Some minor wear closer to the fence, slightly more at the 1950m mark. Outside of the inner two lanes it is unmarked. Don't imagine there will be much of a pattern here given it's a low-speed area.
1500m-800m (back straight): Really good pad of grass underfoot and next to no wear to speak of. I was very impressed with the condition of the surface here given we're into June already. At worst it would be a '6' but I think will hold together very well even if we do get rain.
1400-800m (chute): Sporadic fill but very minimal towards the top of the chute. Once you hit the exit of the chute you can notice some more marking in lane 1. I felt that with a bit of rain hard up on the fence would be slightly inferior ground. Overall, in good condition and was on the better side of a '6'.
800m-400m: I felt that lanes 1 and 2 were inferior ground here. More marking and noticeable sandfill as you walk it. I thought any additional rain would result in slower ground against the rail and horses getting off the fence here might have an advantage. Lanes 3-6 walked really well and might be the preferred going. Out very wide there is marking from jump outs and trackwork so doubt you'd want to be out beyond the middle here.
400m-Winning Post: Once again I felt the fence was inferior ground here. My prediction is they'll want to get off the fence before they enter the straight and that the middle lanes in the home straight would be the preferred going. Walked on the better side of a Soft 6 at the time of walking.
Verdict: The last meeting here was May 14th where just the three races were held on the Parks track. The rail remains in the same spot for Saturday and I thought it walked a Soft 6 but certainly no worse. If they can escape the rain it would probably race as a '5' in my opinion. I thought lanes 1 and 2 were inferior from the 800m mark to the winning post and that in the straight the preferred ground would be the middle lanes. Ordinarily, you'd like to find horses that map forward and on the fence but I'm predicting the Parks track to play differently this week. I think horses from off the speed will get their chance if they angle out wider as I'm thinking they will.
