Stylish Aussie Shout Shines at the Adelaide Show

Aussie Shout has taken out the inaugural Fashions Off The Track Competition at this year’s Royal Adelaide Show. The 15-year-old gelding presented perfectly along with Jamie Bruggemann to be judged the winners of the Fashion Off The Track competition.

The Racehorse to Showhorse program promotes life after racing for retired thoroughbreds as they transition to careers as showhorses. Thoroughbred Racing SA is a proud partner of this program.

Aussie Shout had a solid racing career winning six races from 33 starts, running his last race in January of 2009 at Morphettville. But since his retirement he has really found a new calling in the Showhorse arena.

In the Fashions Off The Track Competition Aussie Shout and Bruggemann nailed the judging criteria which included:

  • understanding and interpreting current fashion trends
  • grooming, deportment and turnout of the horse; and
  • colour and fashion coordination between the horse and its leader

Bruggemann was thrilled to be judged the winner.

“I’ve always had horses growing up as my mum’s a trainer (Nicole Bruggemann) and I have been entering fashion competitions for about a year. I love the Fashions Off the Track as it’s a lot more fun presenting with the horses.”

“The horse is owned by Bettina Stanton and she was kind enough to lend him to me a few times now to lead, so we kindly asked her if we could borrow him for the show! I was lucky that he already had a black and white browband, so that matched my outfit perfectly!”

Jamie, who is still a high school student, expertly assembled her outfit from a range of ’op shops’ while her fascinator was from local designer, Simply by Lou Lou.

“I am a huge fan of the full skirts, so I try to plan most of my outfits with full skirts. I wear a lot of black and white outfits, so I added a hint of red to brighten things up, seeing as we are in spring!”

Aussie Shout ended up having a great day at the Royal Show, going on to pick up Reserve Champion Racehorse to Showhorse in the Hack Category.

Other major winners on the day were recently retired Cross Constance who took out Champion Ridden Racehorse to Showhorse (Hack) while Fitness Fanatic was crowned Champion Racehorse to Show Horse Show (Hunter).
