SA Racing Weekly Wrap

It's been a big week in South Australia racing with some outstanding achievements accomplished and milestones reached.

Excites Zelady Wins His Third Murray Bridge Gold Cup

The 2014 & 2015 winner was unwanted in the market after some below average runs coming into the Listed feature but the Chris Bieg trained gelding produced a gutsy run for Justin Potter and held off the fast finishing Magic Consul to claim his third Murray Bridge Cup.

The $27k yearling purchase has now gone on to win over $545k for connections including three Listed Murray Bridge Gold Cups and the 2013 Group 3 Breeders Stakes.

Dylan Caboche Rides His 100th Career Winner

Young hoop Dylan Caboche brought up his 100th career win on the Phillip Stokes trained Lady of Crebilly on Saturday.

Caboche started his career in Victoria before coming across to South Australia to be part of the UBET Apprentice Academy.

He is currently indentured to the Ryan Balfour stable who are having an outstanding season. 26 of his 101 career wins have come aboard Balfour's horses including four this season.

Caboche now has 23 Metropolitan, 41 Provincial and 37 Country wins to his name.

Balf's Choice Claims to Listed Seymour Cup

The in-form Ryan Balfour brought up his 20th winner for the season when his talented galloper Balf's Choice took out Sunday's Listed Seymour Cup.

Friday's Murray Bridge Gold Cup was on the radar for Balf's Choice but after a track gallop earlier in the week, Balfour opted to send the Balaklava Cup winner to Seymour instead which proved to be a masterstroke.

Balf's Choice drifted in the betting to jump at $12.40 with UBET but a lovely ride from the in-form Joe Bowditch gave him and Balfour a memorable victory across the border.

Balfour is on track for a career best season with 20 wins to his name in less than three months. Assuming his great form continues, he should eclipse his previous best of 42 winners in the 2014/15 season.
