Lincoln Moore's Strathalbyn Preview

BEST BET: HEAVENLY AWARD (Race 2)

EACH-WAY: VINDEX (Race 8)

VALUE: KILDERKIN (Race 1)

RACE 1 - 12:45PM Breast Cancer Aware / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

KILDERKIN is a 3yo filly on debut for Barry Brook but did look pretty good winning a Gawler trial last month. She draws a nice gate and might be good enough to handle these first-up. MAJESTIC MISSILE is a former Lindsay Park horse who ran well at his SA debut behind Dantree at Murray Bridge on Cup Day. He draws out by jumping from 900m to 1100m looks ideal. SELLIX is placed at eight of 15 starts and ran really well first-up behind Sitting Bull before a handy effort in town last time behind Deep Speed. That’s solid form for a maiden here. GO BOO BOO hasn’t raced since May when runner-up here behind Choncape. He’s in very good hands, has the benefit on a jump-out here last week and the blinkers go on here. REDAAN is a seven-year-old on debut and jumped out here recently.

SELECTIONS: KILDERKIN, Sellix, Majestic Missile

RACE 2 - 1:20PM Strath Small Engines / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

HEAVENLY AWARD is a first starter for Will Clarken who trialled well at Gawler earlier this month running second behind Troubled Times when she wasn’t asked to do a lot. JACJAC JACQUI chased home Glory Game on debut, had two starts this track and trip and was beaten 1.1 length behind Domesday magic and then 1.4 lengths behind Von Saga. She was spelled after chasing home Another Award at Murray Bridge, but that form is strong for this. THE HAITIAN POET is back sharply in class after pulling ground off Star of Uma at Morphettville last time. Back in distance isn’t ideal but he looks an improver and this is his right class. SUMMER SHOW had specking at a big price and was only beaten 4.8 lengths at her SA debut. She could run a cheeky race from the inside.

SELECTIONS: HEAVENLY AWARD, Jacjac Jacqui, The Haitian Poet

RACE 3 - 1:55PM Fleurieu Milk / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1600 METRES)

Looks an ideal race for GAZE GRISE to break her maiden status. She was very good first-up from a spell chasing home Amuri at Morphettville and followed that up with another good effort behind Extra Time in a $100k race last time. A daughter of Puissance De Lune who should thrive at the mile. PENONG ran with an odds-on favourite at Penola last time out when he flashed  behind Hafu. He draws a nice gate and gets the blinkers. GONDOLIER has placed at all four starts here and has the blinkers again. He’s drawn out and first-up at the mile and worked to the line pretty well in a recent jump-out here. APPLIED ran pretty well at a price behind Graciebird at Murray Bridge last time, he’s had plenty of chances but Todd Pannell taking the ride form the inside gives him claims. Stablemate KNEE SLAPPER was runner-up behind General Mint and The Bull McCabe here three starts back, his past two have been only fair. ZESTEND hasn’t done a lot in two starts but is drawn nice in barrier five and gets the blinkers for the first time.

SELECTIONS: GAZE GRISE, Penong, Zestend

RACE 4 - 2:30PM Northpoint Fleurieu Rating 0-58 Hcp (First Leg Montgomerie/Forrest Apprentice Series) (1100 METRES)

EXALTED ZOE was an Oakbank winner on debut and went to town and ran 4th behind Wotuwant. She was spelled after running third behind Seemingly Discreet at Morphettville back in February and that’s very good form for a race like this. PANZER PRINCESS is trained on track and led throughout to beat Boomer Beach on a red hot leaders track at Gawler three starts but was well beaten her past couple. SANDCAT has a good record here on her home track and beat Hilumiere here five runs back in June. She draws a good gate and has Jess Eaton on board. IN THE FAST LANE has won two of five first-up and has the benefit of a recent trial and looks a danger. RAHEEBA went around at a price behind Bray Street Boss at Murray Bridge last time but has won two of four here and draws a nice gate. CIRCUS DANCER could improve back in class. FERGIE is drawn wide but has appeal.

SELECTIONS: EXALTED ZOE, IN The Fast Lane, Raheeba

RACE 5 - 3:10PM Langhorne Creek Premiers A & B Grade / SABOIS+ Maiden/Class One Plate (Heat 8 Skybeau Series) (2050 METRES)

BIARCHI has been a steady improver and broke through at Murray Bridge last time over the 1800m beating Mr Pocket. She draws a nice gate and is craving a trip like this. She looks the one to beat. GALAHAD GURU is back in class on last time when 4th behind Somerset Maugham at Morphettville. His form is all in stronger races, he draws a good gate and is sure to fight out the finish. LINE DANCER is a winner and placegetter at this track and trip and drops back from the 3000m at Gawler last time, HOLY SANGRIA has placed at all five starts here but has just the one win from 17 starts. BACK POCKET has been placed at his past two at Murray Bridge. He’s only won the one race but should be thereabouts. FREE ATBARA won her only race at 2000m while STALAGMITE is another who has a win and placing from two starts this track and trip

SELECTIONS: BIARCHI, Galahad Guru, Back Pocket

RACE 6 - 3:50PM Milang Caravan Park Class One Handicap (1200 METRES)

HANKSTAR has form through the Redelva and Euclase from the carnival and was sent out favourite first-up when he got back behind Party Hack at Morphettville. Get in well with claim for Jacob Opperman and should take beating. I’ve got time for YULE MY HERO who showed plenty last season as a 2yo and wasn’t disgraced behind Mileva last time. Barrier four is a big tick. CALYPSO STORM ran a big race behind Tully’s Gold at Gawler last Friday. FREE HAND is only lightly-raced and drawn a touch wide but can run a cheeky race here. UNDESIRE won her only start here back in February, RANGER CEE JAY goes well this track winning over 1100m three starts back and has been placed fresh. CHONCAPE is another trained on track and won here in May, MAGIC DEE has ability.

SELECTIONS: HANKSTAR, Yule My Hero, Ranger Cee Jay

RACE 7 - 4:30PM Barry Jarman OAM Memorial Benchmark 54 Handicap (1600 METRES)

JACK’S A CRACKER was a winner this track and trip two starts back before racing on speed and fading behind Flying Pierro at Gawler last time. He draws well and is sure to be thereabouts. GOLDIE GURU has a win and a 2nd from two starts this track and trip and has the benefit of a recent Gawler trial. Draws a nice gate with Jason Holder booked. They should fight this one out. FANASTIC MAGIC has a good record here around his home track but draws a sticky gate. ACT OF AGGRESSION is lightly-raced and ran odds-on when a Gawler winner in June and should strip fitter for her first-up run at Penola but will be looking for further.

SELECTIONS: JACK'S A CRACKER, Goldie Guru, Fantastic Magic

RACE 8 - 5:10PM Hygain Benchmark 62 Handicap (Heat 8 Happy Trails Series) (1350 METRES)

Good race to end the day. VINDEX has been flying and won well at Murray Bridge three starts back and was good last time behind Valliano. He has been placed at two of four here and looks each-way value. SKILLFUL STEPS draws the inside and won his only start here. JUST KAPPY has won four (placed three) of 11 starts here and was too good for Royalty at Morphettville three starts back. He’s won two races first-up, gets in nicely with the claim for Maggie Collett and is sure to take some running down from barrier two. SILVERHAWK is another who aided by the claim and this is a drop in class on recent racing. He can win from off the speed and does draw a sticky gate. STRYKE IN STYLE has won two of three starts on his home deck and did run favourite at Gawler two starts back. DIAMOND TYCOON is probably going to need a touch further but has trialled for this and does run well fresh. HILUMIERE loves it here and was too good on a soft 7 last time. She’s drawn to get a good run.

SELECTIONS: VINDEX, Skillful Steps, Silverhawk
