Lincoln Moore's Saturday Preview

BEST BET: MELODY MAN (Race 9)

EACH-WAY: NALEIGH (Race 6)

VALUE: EXTRA MILE (Race 8)

RACE 1 - 11:47AM Wills and Daniel Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

Pretty keen on KEEP READING and not alone with punters quick to snap up the $4.60 on offer in opening markets. He who was brave on debut sticking to the task strongly behind a handy one in Taunting. He draws perfectly and gets his chance to break through. COYOTE is a former Kiwi first-up in Australia for Michael Hickmott. He’s been placed at his past two back home, draws a nice gate and there has been money to suggest he will run well. Hickmott also saddles up TOLKIEN who is a first starter. STRIKE EAGLE has been very good at both starts behind Taunting and has a race fitness edge.

SELECTIONS: KEEP READING, Coyote, Strike Eagle

RACE 2 - 12:22PM Dominant Handicap (1600 METRES)

THE DEC has won two of four starts and was too good for Typhoon Harmony last time out, the winner was well tried here but beaten last week. He draws a nice gate and has solid claims. FLYING PIERRO had specking at big odds and was good beating Icecrusher at Gawler last time but has been placed just once in six starts here. FRANCE’S BOY has a good record and was scratched from the Mildura Cup on Friday in preference to this. His latest effort at Gawler was sound and he draws a perfect barrier. UNLACED strips fitter for one run back at Gawler behind Flying Pierro. JAGUARY is better than his latest but draws awkwardly and DR DEE DEE doesn’t run many bad races and must be respected.

SELECTIONS: THE DEC, Flying Pierro, France's Boy

RACE 3 - 12:57PM Furphy Handicap (2500 METRES)

MAHIS ANGEL was impressive bouncing back to winning form beating boom stablemate Not Usual Glorious at Gawler last time. His lead-up form had been promising and he should be fighting out the finish again from a food gate. MR JOOBS comes off a handy effort at Sandown when he made ground and that form was franked midweek. LORD BOUZERON has been racing well and maps to get a nice run here. He was on speed before tiring late behind Mahis Angel at Gawler last time in testing conditions. He should be right in the mix here. STAN THE CADDY has looked to have his chance at his past couple when well backed after a nice run behind Scottish Dancer three starts back. AZZUREOUS was a good winner over Canford at Murray Bridge when he controlled the race before looking to have the Cup at his mercy at Port Augusta before being outstayed late by Connermara Rose. He looks over the odds in early markets. MANZALA battled behind Mahis Angel at Gawler but his previous form was solid.

SELECTIONS: Mahis Angel, Mr Joobs, Lord Bouzeron

RACE 4 - 1:32PM TAB Handicap (1200 METRES)

Interesting race, Street Tough heading to Mildura on Friday leaves PINDARIC and DEXELATION fighting out for favouritism. PINDARIC has huge upside and is a still learning his craft and is winning on raw ability. He was super first-up and should have taken plenty away from the run. DEXELATION brings some serious Victorian form back here to SA. He was runner-up in both the Wangoom and Golden Topaz before a brave effort when 4th behind Red Can Man in the Group 3 Monash Stakes last time. He draws wide but gets some help with the claim. FLYING AWARD is the horse with huge upside if he can ever find regain his 3yo form from the spring where he tackled the Coolmore. His best form is getting back and he was hitting the line strongly behind Pindaric last time and is well over the odds. STREET LIFE would be right in the finish if he can find his form from earlier this campaign. EXTREME THRILL is racing well.

SELECTIONS: DEXELATION, Pindaric, Flying Award

RACE 5 - 2:07PM GH Mumm Handicap (1050 METRES)

Wide open race here and happy to stay out. Victorian BLACK OPAL looks to bring some useful form here placed at Pakenham before running 4th at Ballarat on the synthetic last time. David Jolly’s SILVER ON RED resumes here and has ability. He was placed at three on end before beating Effortkat at Murray Bridge before a break. LIBERALIZED was an Echuca winner before running well behind Steel Choice at Pakenham last time out. ROMALETTE is first-up for the Will Clarken stable and has trialled well for her SA debut. STAR OF MANHATTAN was a Bendigo winner three starts back and made good ground at Sandown, that form looks good for a race like this. MAGIC PHANTOM found the line well behind Kishstar at Murray Bridge last time out, BLUEDOG was a winner on the Parks track back in February last year and resumes from a long spell.

SELECTIONS: BLACK OPAL, Silver On Red, Liberalized

RACE 6 - 2:47PM Fleurieu Milk Company Handicap (1050 METRES)

Another very competitive betting race. NALEIGH was very good finishing off well to run 2nd behind Mutinious first-up from a spell and she is a winner this track and trip back in November. GREAT LEVELLER returned to SA and ran well behind Aadlad before another handy effort behind Lombardo on the Parks track last week. Stablemate SOUTHERN MAGNOLIA was a last-start Sale winner and draws off the track. MISS MUCINNI had draws out wide and was OK first-up when heavily fancied. She’s sure to strip fitter here and was very impressive on debut. She draws out but that might be to her advantage on wet conditions. HEROIC CHIEF has been gelded since he was placed behind Compardy at Kyneton in May. The stable have a great strike-rate when they come back to Adelaide so keep him safe. ULTIMATE VICTORY is a hard horse to catch but has been beaten less than 2.5 lengths at all three runs since resuming the latest behind Zoushine at Murray Bridge. SPIN THE REWARD was a good Gawler winner back in April, had market support first-up behind Mutinous there and must be respected. SCENIC HOST is lightly-raced but looks to have upside and must be respected. DE THORN blew punters away at cricket score odds last time and draws an inside gate.

SELECTIONS: NALEIGH, Great Leveller, Miss Mucinni

RACE 7 - 3:27PM The Junction Handicap (1200 METRES)

PREAKNESS is a big watch. A Kiwi 3yo who came to Australia running 2nd at Sale last August before going back home where he returned to racing last December running 5th as favourite. He’s now with Michael Hickmott and must be kept very safe. REFRESHED was good at her SA debut narrowly beaten by Hilumiere on the Parks track last week. JONQUEST is a horse with a lot of talent and upside and was a winner over Captain Bridges at Strathalbyn. TAHNEE TRADITION pulled plenty of ground off Munster late at Murray Bridge last time and she looks nicely suited in a race like this. MORIALTA has been very good winning two of his past three, he came from a mile back to win at Balaklava last time. How that measures up here is a slight question but he looks very well placed. RINGFORT was good first-up in SA before being well beaten last time, ROYAL GUN SALUTE has trialled in Victoria and wears blinkers for the first time.

SELECTIONS: PREAKNESS, Jonquest, Morialta

RACE 8 - 4:02PM Irish Race Day at Morphettville - Saturday August 14 Handicap (1200 METRES)

STAR OF UMA was good winning on the Parks track beating Thrill Kill before leading them up and getting tired at Flemington last time. She has a good record and looks hard to beat here back to the 1200m. EXTRA MILE was good making ground behind Maha at Gawler last time and his previous effort behind Aadelad was solid for a race like this. Blinkers come off and he should be right in the finish. NONAME LANE was heavily backed to win at Murray Ridge last time. His overall record is very good and he looks hard to beat again. HALCYON DAME maps well from the barrier and her Victorian form is solid enough for this. MUNSTER was a good Murray Bridge winner before a handy effort beaten 2.5 lengths behind Smart Alick at Gawler last time, stablemate LAKE’S FOLLY had no luck at Gawler two starts back and then carrier plenty of weight last week behind Hilumiere. He can bounce back here and looks over the odds. SMART ALICK comes off a good Gawler win and is another over the odds.

SELECTIONS: STAR OF UMA, Noname Lane, Extra Mile

RACE 9 - 4:40PM Pike & Joyce Handicap (1800 METRES)

MELODY MAN is a nice horse and should also appreciate getting out in trip. His past two at Murray Bridge behind Zoist and Just Folk have been solid and he’s been well found early. Looks hard to beat. CAPRICORN RIDGE is a promising young stayer who went to Ballarat and bolted in by six lengths last time. He was beaten by Applied at his previous outing but draws a nice gate and should be fighting out the finish despite dropping back in trip. SHE’S A KARAKA was brilliant first-up in SA for David Jolly, she should appreciate the 1800m. GET IN THE QUEUE was a soft winner at Werribee last time and that form should stack up very well here. TIBETAN has been good placing at his past couple and he draws to get a nice run from barrier two.

SELECTIONS: MELODY MAN, Capricorn Ridge, She’s A Karaka
