Lincoln Moore's Naracoorte Preview

BEST BET: CATHARTES (Race 3)

EACH-WAY: JAYWICK (Race 5)

VALUE: MULGA LIL (Race 7)

RACE 1 - 1:44PM Local Trainers Murphy, Jaensch, Black Benchmark 68 Handicap (1100 METRES)

Even race on paper. THANASI has won two (placed one) of four starts here and maps to get a nice run. He was close-up behind Cashin’ Chex at Morphettville before a break. ACTION IN CAIRNS also draws well and won two on end before battling behind Gigglon last time. EARLY PLEA was a winner here back in June and stuck on well behind Gigglon last time. He should be right there from a good barrier. PEWTER is second up and was a good Bordertown winner beating This Kid Rocks back in July. RHYTHMATIC was very good behind Just Chipping Away at Casterton two starts back. GRAVTY is the roughie in the race but was OK behind French Rock at Oakbank last time.

SELECTIONS: 6. THANASI, 4. Action In Cairns, 5. Early Plea

RACE 2 - 2:20PM Naracoorte Radiators Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)

BELVIDERE PRINCE comes off a good effort behind a smart one in Speak No Eagle at Murray Bridge. He ran well behind So Say Angel at his previous and looks the clear horse to beat. PARIS DOLL is a debutant for Vanessa Hutchinson and won a Penola trial. JUSTAKIDD has jumped out OK for the Shayne Cahill stable and must be kept safe here. ROLL ME AWAY was OK on debut, SURREAL STORM has had the two trials and maps well from the barrier.

SELECTIONS: 1. BELVIDERE PRINCE, 4. Paris Doll, 3. Justakidd

RACE 3 - 2:54PM Bushmans Hotel Maiden Handicap (1430 METRES)

CATHARTES is on debut for Symon Wilde and has been $2.90 into $2.50 since betting opened and looked to have plenty of talent winning a Stawell jump-out. He draws out but wouldn’t need to be a star to handle these first-up. LOVE TO LOVE has been OK in two since coming to SA and draws an inside barrier. MELISSA KATE has been runner-up her past two the latest at Penola behind Ammo Amor. SALUTE THE CANNONS was placed here on debut and draws a favourable barrier.

SELECTIONS: 3. CATHARTES, 1. Love To Love, 9. Melissa Kate

RACE 4 - 3:26PM Naracoorte Hotel Motel Class 2 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Looks a nice race for CAPTAIN SOLO who has been close up at both runs since joining the Shayne Cahill stable. He was beaten just over a length behind So Say Angel at Gawler then finished off well when 2.3 lengths behind Harbouring at Balaklava on Cup Day. He gets his chance. EQUICHUNK has been placed at his past three, the latest behind French Rock at Oakbank and looks well placed here. WILD WILLY has won two of six starts but also unplaced in all three runs here. He draws the inside and should be in the mix first-up. FAST ‘N’ FORWARD was runner-up at Casterton and Naracoorte before battling behind Gigglon last time. BLUEBERRY BOY was a Penola winner two starts back.

SELECTIONS: 3. CAPTAIN SOLO, 5. Equichunk, 1. Wild Willy

RACE 5 - 4:00PM Finns Fine Foods Benchmark 58 Handicap (1000 METRES)

DESERT SPIRIT has a good record here on his home track with two wins and three placings from nine starts and usually run well fresh. He gets some weight relief with the claim and is going to take running down first-up. JAYWICK looks the danger. He was a winner here back in April and draws to get a good run just behind the speed first-up. REAL VALENTIA is another resuming and was well backed when 5th behind Tough Lassie, he has claims here. FIRST REWARD rolled forward last time and draws to be on speed.

SELECTIONS: 1. DESERT SPIRIT, 2. Jaywick, 3. Real Valentia

RACE 6 - 4:40PM 'The Road to the Jericho' Benchmark 75 Handicap (Jericho Cup Qualifier) (3160 METRES)

HEBERITE is a former Kiwi in the leading Maher/Eustace yard and comes off a maiden hurdle win at Ballarat, so the distance is going to be no issue. He’s won five of 24 and looks the clear top pick. Fellow Victorian BEACHGOER has a Moonee Valley 3000m win to his name back in January and looks the danger to the favourite. BEAR ARMS is going super, and she will have no issues with the 3160m trip. Her best form is on a wet track, but she has won three of eight starts here and was held when she needed room last time. FAST FOILS has OK form for a race like this, IRONICAL was good winning over 2500m at Murray Bridge last time and HE EKSCELS would be in the mix on his Morphettville effort behind Reflect The Stars two starts back.

SELECTIONS: 2. HEBERITE, 3. Beachgoer, 4. Bear Arms

RACE 7 - 5:15PM Hages Tractors Benchmark 58 Handicap (1430 METRES)

MULGA LIL won three of five starts before a break. She gets in well after the claim and should be right in the mix from barrier four and is value. MISS MOSH has been runner-up at three of her past five and was good behind Wild Colonial Boy last time. She’s bursting to win a race and looks well placed. SADUKA has two wins and a second from five starts here and defeated Loose Lip Lloyd here in August and has claims. UNLIMITED ABILITY has been racing well and was close up behind Hurricane Sonny and Mindarie-Halidon last week. GASWORX has ability but is probably going to be looking for further.

SELECTIONS: 1. MULGA LIL, 8. Miss Mosh, 7. Saduka
