Record-breaking win for Outlaws Revenge

Outlaws Revenge is set to target some of South Australia’s sprint features including a potential Group 1 Goodwood tilt in 2022 following his brilliant Listed City of Marion Stakes win at Morphettville at the weekend.

Trainer Ryan Balfour has always believed the son of Reward For Effort was capable of doing some freakish things and that was  evident on Saturday.

After bucking shortly after the barriers opened Outlaws Revenge charged through underneath horses to settle better than midfield before unleashing a brilliant late sprint to gun down red-hot favourite Rock The Ring.

His win set a new Morphettville 1200m track record (1:08:18), breaking the mark set by Navy Shaker in 2006.

IN Melbourne, the amazing run for Regalo Di Gaetano and the Richard and Chantelle Jolly stable continued in the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes.

Chasing his third feature race in succession, Regalo Di Gaetano enjoyed a perfect run before claiming the biggest win of his career in the $200,000 feature to take prizemoney past the $600,000 mark including bonuses.

“He’s just a winner,’’ jockey Zac Spain said.

“He’s a lovely big strong horse, he put himself in a beautiful spot, he relaxed nice underneath me and was never going to get beaten,’’ he said.

It was a two-state jolly for the stable with Hypercane successful at Morphettville.

Regalo Di Gaetano’s win capped a successful weekend across the border for the family with David Jolly winning at Moonee Valley on Friday night Gaze Grise in a heat of the 55 Second Challenge Series.

“It worked out perfectly,’’ jockey Damien Lane said.

“She’s got some upside, now that she’s learning to follow, switch off, she’s becoming more versatile,’’ he said.

David Jolly was back in the winner’s stall at Strathalbyn on Sunday when Fields Of Athenry scored early before Fulton Street claimed the Langhorne Creek Vignerons Cup with apprentice Kristo Sardelic in the saddle.
