Jolly big week for David and crew

David Jolly is set for a hectic week with his Goolwa stable.

After taking eight horses to the Morphettville trials on Monday, including All-Star Mile hopeful Behemoth, Jolly has runners at Murray Bridge and Caulfield on Wednesday before a big weekend back in SA.

Streetcar Stranger will fly the flag at Caulfield in the $130,000 W J Adams Stakes over the 1000m with Jamie Kah booked to ride and Jolly said the small five-horse field was ideal.

“Some of his best runs have been at the Parks in a small field,’’ Jolly said.

“He’s got a nice draw, he gets around Caulfield well and it looks like there will be some pace in the race which should suit him,’’ he said.

Two Times Twice debuts at Murray Bridge while Yeelanna jumps from an inside gate with Kristo Sardelic booked to ride.

“He (Two Times Twice) has gone OK in couple of jump outs at home,’’ Jolly said.

“I decided to run him, opposed to trialling and I think he can run a cheeky race.

“The inside gate and a 1000m might be a bit short for Yeelanna but she will be getting through the line well,’’ he said.

A big weekend looms locally for Jolly too.

Behemoth will launch his 2022 campaign chasing a second successive $107,250 Listed Durbridge Stakes at Morphettville before the Goolwa horseman takes a team to his home track at Strathalbyn on Sunday for the Cup meeting.

Dual Group 1 winner Behemoth finished third in his Morphettville trial behind Morvada, and Jolly said the ticked all the right boxes after working through the line nicely with Kayla Crowther in the saddle.

“We gave him a soft trial,’’ Jolly said.

“He was a little bit slow out and then held-up a bit before getting to line nicely.

“He’s had a more conventional campaign, the longer spell has been good for him.

“Last time around his preparation probably wasn’t ideal, but it’s been a nice long slow build up this time around. He might not be as sharp first-up but I really think he is going to be much better positioned for the mile better this time around,’’ he said.
