Hurricane Sonny makes his annual pilgrimage on the ferry in search of more Kangaroo Island success later this week.
Amazingly, it will be the sixth year in succession the David Page-trained 11-year-old has raced at Kingscote where he’s had 20 starts for eight wins and eight placings
He won at his island debut in 2015 before running second on the Saturday.
Hurricane Sonny returned for three starts in 2016 for two wins and a second and had a win and two placings in another three starts in 2017.
The son of Mutahassin finished second in all three starts on the island in 2018, won all three races there in 2019 and was in the winners’ stall on the Thursday of the two-day carnival in 2020.
He had a winless 2021 and on Thursday will be trying to atone for going down as a $1.80 favourite at the opening meeting of the KI season last month.
