Yuen, Overall to make race riding debuts

Two fresh faces will feature in South Australian form guides from Sunday.

Nichola Yuen and Lachlan Overall make their riding debuts at the Lock meeting.

It’s a long way from Hong Kong to Lock for Yuen who is indentured to the Richard and Chantelle Jolly stable and moved into Australia back in November.

Yuen rode in more than 90 trials back in Hong Kong and is considered one of the most advanced apprentices to come to Australia.

“Nichola has an excellent seat in the saddle and a really good stable behind her,’’ Racing SA Apprentice Academy Master Briony Moore said.

“She has settled in really well and is very eager to get out onto the track and get started,’’ she said.

Overall, a former Victorian who started in the South East before moving to Murray Bridge with the John Hickmott and Carrina Riggs stable, has the one ride at his first day of race riding - Aim To Please for Garret Lynch.

“Lachlan has done an excellent job to get to the races,’’ Moore said.

“His weight fluctuated a lot early, and he has done a lot with our dietician and doctor to help be as fit and healthy as he can be.

“To his credit he has taken all of the advice and made his riding dream happen.

“Lachlan has an incredible knowledge of racing and passion for the sport so we know he will go really well when the opportunities arise,’’ she said.
