BEST BETS

FOXY FRIDA (Race 5)

EACH-WAY

MORRISSETTE (Race 6)
CHERRY TORTONI (Race 7)

RACE 1 - 11:32AM Rexel Handicap (2015 METRES)

NOT USUAL GLORIOUS returned to form leading throughout to win here two weeks back. He’ll roll forward from the wide gate and should take some running down. DOES IT is racing very well and gets in nicely at the weights here. The drop back in trip suits and he could be a danger. MEDIEVAL MISS has been in the money at two of three SA starts and could be the improver second-up from a spell. DEXTER YOU DEVIL got well back and only battled last time behind Not Usual Glorious but gets blinkers again. TARAMANSOUR can improve in a race like this. He chased home Derby placegetter Detonator Jack at Sandown.

SELECTIONS: 1 NOT USUAL GLORIOUS, 5 Does It, 8 Medieval Miss, 1 Dexter You Devil

PLAY: Something each-way MEDIEVAL MISS.

RACE 2 - 12:07PM Thomas Farms Handicap (1050 METRES)

EXTREMELY LUCKY had no luck first-up before again getting back on a moderate tempo and making ground behind Seradess in the Tobin Bronze last time. Drawing out should suit him here and he’s a horse with enormous upside. ASTON RAPOVA did an OK job to stick on behind Free Of Debt in the G3 last time. His previous two wins were excellent, and he looks over the odds. MAGIC MAX draws wide but was a good winner here four runs back and is capable of running well. KENYAN WONDER is a winner fresh and was spelled after chasing home Probabeel at Caulfield in February. CHOSEN BLONDE maps to get a nice run here. FULL PROBE strips fitter and can well.

SELECTIONS: 11 EXTREMELY LUCKY, 8 Aston Rapova, 5 Magic Max, 2 Kenyan Wonder

PLAY: Backing ASTON RAPOVA the place.

RACE 3 - 12:42PM Carbine Club of South Australia Inc. Handicap (1200 METRES)

THREE TEARS has a good record and followed a good effort behind Aston Rapova with another good run when he flashed late and only just missed behind I Am Bene here last time. Barrier four and Craig Williams are big ticks. MISS LANGTRY was huge here second-up from a spell when she came off a good speed and run down Last Girl Love. BROTHER’S SHADOW caught the eye late first-up behind Queman here last week he draws a middle gate and must be given some thought.  SO SAY ANGEL has good form lines and was good first-up after racing handy to the lead when 5th behind Mask Up. She draws out but has upside. SO YOU CAN maps well, and his fresh form is OK. CASHIN’ CHEX was the real eye catcher first-up for almost a year flying home behind Mask Up here last time. He draws a good barrier.

SELECTIONS: 12 THREE TEARS, 6 Miss Langtry, 4 Brother’s Shadow, 7 So Say Angel

PLAY: Something each-way on MISS LANGTRY.

RACE 4 - 1:17PM David Coles AM Stakes (1200 METRES)

SEE YOU IN HEAVEN has won three of four and justified a big market move to win well in the Breeder’s Stakes last time beating subsequent winner Twin Stars. She draws the inside and is the one to beat. Stablemate AITCH TWO OH is building a good record and she was on speed and dug deep to hold off Winning Revolution last time. PORTRAY resumed form a break to win at Cranbourne and draws out but looks a horse with upside. MAXIMILLIUS jumped favourite and stuck on well behind Lincoln Square at Caulfield last time. MISS DUNSFORD caught the eye making good ground behind Twin Stars last week and gets the winkers for the first time. AS TIME GOES BY is a Deep Impact filly on debut for the Freedman stable and has jumped out well.

SELECTIONS: 4 SEE YOU IN HEAVEN, 5 Aitch Two Oh, 11 As Time Goes By, 9 Portray

PLAY: Happy to watch on.

RACE 5 - 1:52PM Dominant Centaurea Stakes (2015 METRES)

FOXY FRIDA looked unlucky not to win here last time when she was last on the turn and had a bumping dual in the straight before just missing behind Silent Sovereign. The step up in trip is ideal and she can bounce back here. LA DRAGONTEA was caught off the track four wide throughout in the same race and did a big job to stick on like she did. She should take plenty away from the run. Likewise STARELLE stuck on well after covering ground with cover in the same race. She’s only won the one of 19 but doesn’t run many bad races. SILENT SOVEREIGN thrived back at Morphettville coming from the back to win the Queen of the South last time. She draws out but the extra trip won’t worry her.

SELECTIONS: 4 FOXY FRIDA, 2 La Dragontea, 3 Starelle, 1 Silent Sovereign

PLAY: Very keen on FOXY FRIDA.

RACE 6 - 2:27PM SA Fillies Classic (2500 METRES)

MORRISSETTE worked home well behind Glint Of Hope in the Oaks, she draws a nice barrier, and the blinkers go on here. She was good in the Vic Oaks in the spring, and she can run a big race here. DOUCEUR was very good running 5th behind Glint Of Hope in the Oaks last time. She’s poorly drawn but is a quality mare who looks hard to beat here and the 2500m should suit. Stablemate BUNDLE OF FUN was OK behind Glint Of Hope last time. She was a winner over 2100m at Launceston three starts back and she draws to get a perfect run. THE AMAZONIAN was a Cranbourne winner over 2025m in heavy going and she will appreciate the 2500m but draws awkwardly. THE MAP worked through the line OK behind Derby winner Jungle Magnate in the Chairman’s Stakes but is another who draws the car park. LADY CHANT was OK against the boys in the Derby last week. She has had this race in sights the whole time in SA and she’ll get a good run from a middle gate. MAMOUNIA can improve on her latest effort and has Jamie Kah going on.

SELECTIONS: 8 MORRISSETTE, 1 Douceur, 5 The Amazonian, 4 Bundle Of Fun

PLAY: Backing MORRISSETTE each-way.

RACE 7 - 3:07PM R A Lee Stakes (1600 METRES)

CHERRY TORTONI was impressive winning here last year in the Adelaide Guineas and his record at the mile is superb. He was too good for Hi Stranger at Bendigo two runs back before closing late behind Makram at Flemington. He draws a good barrier and looks hard to beat. DALASAN is weighted to win. 16 of his past 17 starts have been at Group level. Only issue is it’s been over two years since he’s won a race. JUNIPAL will get a good run from the barrier and comes off a nice run behind Imperial Lad at Caulfield. EXCELIDA chased home Ayrton two starts back and then flashed late behind Regardsmaree last time. She has very good form for this. ROYAL MILE got well back and struggled to make ground behind Morvada last time, getting to the mile suits. STRUCK BY has stuck on gamely his past couple and must be respected. SO SI BON was good behind Imperial Lad in the Gold Mile at Caulfield last time and is worth some thought.

SELECTIONS: 2 CHERRY TORTONI, 7 Dalasan, 3 Junipal, 14 Excelida

PLAY: Backing CHERRY TORTONI each-way.

RACE 8 - 3:47PM The Furphy Goodwood (1200 METRES)

BEHEMOTH is having his 4th crack at a Goodwood and his return was very good closing late in the McKay Stakes from the back with a big weight. He maps well from a middle barrier and if luck falls his way and the pace is genuine, he should give this am big shake. EXTREME WARRIOR is the x-factor, the light weight 3yo taking on the big boys. He was good winning first-up, was favourite in the Coolmore back in the spring and he’s going to get his chance with Jamie Kah in the saddle. THE INFERNO was another eye-catcher in the McKay Stakes, he draws a good barrier and is more than up to winning a race like this. HALVORSEN was very good in the William Reid two starts back and draws a nice barrier. SAVATOXL was back to his best when narrowly run down last time. He came off the speed to win last year and does look like getting across into a prime spot from the barrier. LOMBARDO has a great record here and must be respected. OUTLAWS REVENGE ran some good late sectionals last start. THE ASTROLOGIST was only run down late by Regardsmaree last time. BELLA NIPOTINA was good in the Sangster and GENERAL BEAU was good in a leader dominated race last time, MANHATTEN TIMES is a knockout chance with the right run.

SELECTIONS: 1 BEHEMOTH, 19 Extreme Warrior, 3 The Inferno, 9 Halvorsen

PLAY: Happy to be backing BEHEMOTH each-way at the $8.

RACE 9 - 4:25PM Proud Miss Stakes (1200 METRES)

ANOTHER AWARD was very good behind Snapdancer in the Sangster. Her form has been solid, and she should be fighting out the finish. SERADESS led and was too sharp winning the Tobin Bronze last time. If she gets a similar run here, she can win again. MISS ALBANIA looked unlucky behind Free Of Debt in the McKay Stakes last time. She draws out but must be respected. I AM BENE is a promising filly who won her maiden easily before a narrow win second-up beating Three Tears. This is a big step up in class, but she’ll run well from a middle gate. PIMM’S PARTY finished off well behind Mask Up last start and strips fitter but draws poorly. DIAMONDS was good finishing off strongly behind Gaze Grise last start but will need luck from the draw.

SELECTIONS: 3 ANOTHER AWARD, 1 Seradess, 5 Miss Albania, 14 I Am Bene

PLAY: MISS ALBANIA each-way.
