Behemoth headlines Spring Stakes noms

Behemoth will search for a third successive Spring Stakes victory when he makes his return to racing at Morphettville on Saturday.

The David Jolly-trained galloper defeated Dalasan and Kemalpasa in 2020 before winning last year’s edition in the stewards’ room after Beau Rossa shifted out late and subsequently lost the race on protest.

Behemoth headlines Spring Stakes nominations and rounded out his preparation, which will be geared towards a third successive win in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes, running second in a Morphettville trial last Friday with Kayla Crowther in the saddle.

The interesting Spring Stakes runner will be Agreeable, who is first-up for the Will Clarken stable.

Formerly with Anthony and Sam Freedman, Agreeable finished fifth in the 2020 Thousand Guineas and hasn’t raced since the Listed Winter Stakes at Randwick in July and caught the eye finishing off well in the same trial as Behemoth last week.

Impressive first-up winner Pindaric is also set to line-up along with dual Listed winner Outlaws Revenge for the Ryan Balfour stable, as well as the Lee Creek-trained Royal Mile.
