Trials kickstart Port Lincoln season

Port Lincoln Racing Club will host a set of official trials on Tuesday prior to commencing their racing season for 2022/23.

More than 60 horses have been nominated to trial ahead of the delayed season opening meeting next Wednesday during Melbourne Cup week.

There will be eight trials with a host of Adelaide jockeys making the trip to the west coast.

"We are really excited to have racing back on the Eyre Peninsula, starting with the trials tomorrow," Racing SA chief operating officer Vaughn Lynch said.

"The amount of nominations we have had for the trials has been outstanding and demonstrates that Port Lincoln and the wider Eyre Peninsula is a key racing region for us. We look forward to the season officially starting early next month," he said.

Racing will commence on Wednesday 2 November with an eight race card.
