Racing SA appoints new chief executive

Racing SA is pleased to announce that it has appointed experienced racing administrator Vaughn Lynch as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Vaughn has been with the organisation since mid-2019, joining as its General Manager of Racing, Wagering and Products before becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2020.

He has worked across all three codes of racing, having held senior positions at Harness Racing Victoria and also having served as CEO of Tasracing, the administrator of Tasmania’s three racing codes.

Chair Rob Rorrison said Vaughn’s appointment would deliver a seamless transition for Racing SA.

“We are delighted that Vaughn has accepted the role,” Rob said.

“He has been a key part of our management team and integral to our business restructure over the past three years. He understands the landscape and gives us critical continuity of leadership as we tackle the relevant opportunities and problems in front of us.

“We are at an important juncture in the history of South Australia’s racing industry as we continue to build for the future in line with our strategic plan while also addressing challenges created by our funding model.”

Vaughn officially commences in the role on 1 November, enabling a generous handover period with outgoing CEO Nick Redin who leaves on 25 November.

“The past few years have been a period of achievement for Racing SA with prize money growth, increases in average field sizes, significant infrastructure investment and improvements in welfare, education and training,” Vaughn said.

“We are generating good momentum, and I’m excited about continuing to help drive that.

“However, I am also acutely aware of the issues being faced by racing in South Australia and I look forward to working with the industry stakeholders, including Government, in addressing them.”
