Growth continues for HorseRecords platform

What started as a tool to help his wife Kim manage her stock horse business has escalated quickly for Andy Ide’s HorseRecords.

HorseRecords offers users an all-in-one tool to manage and record horse information and is proving a must use for a variety of horse associations.

The platform has the ability to manage everything from veterinary records, training, performance details, feeding and stable records, staff management along with options for breeding and pedigrees.

“I created for my wife and then a few years later she said I should make it for everyone to use,’’ Ide, who is a software engineer said.

“I currently have Racing SA and Thoroughbred Racing NT involved and we’re also talking to a couple of other state bodies at the moment.

“It’s also being used by a few large studs around the place,’’ he said.

The success of HorseRecords was highlighted by recently winning the Australian Information Industry Association Award for the “best solution involving a new technology platform”.

“It was a big thrill,’’ Ide said.

Racing SA partnered in March 2022 and all Off The Track racehorses are entered into HorseRecords so that Racing SA staff can ensure the ongoing care of each horse throughout its life after racing.

“HorseRecords is an integral part of a number of tools we use to promote equine welfare in our Off The Track racehorses,’’ Racing SA Equine Welfare Officer John Cornell said.

Those sentiments have been echoed in the NT.

“HorseRecords has not only allowed us to monitor the welfare of our retired racehorses but also has provided new owners with an excellent resource to improve their stable management,’’ Thoroughbred Racing NT Equine Welfare’s Ella Baird said.
