Macmillan pair bring strong form to Morphettville

John Macmillan heads to Morphettville with a pair of last-start winners on Saturday.

Texan Windstorm chases his third win in succession after scoring at Balaklava and at the Parks while Just Jazz broke her maiden status at Gawler last time out.

Texan Windstorm comes off a soft front running win and Macmillan said the horse had the versatility to be a factor again.

“He’s going great,’’ Macmillan said.

“He got his own way the other day but in saying that he doesn’t have to lead to win.

“From that barrier he can sit where he’s comfortable and should be competitive again,’’ he said.

Macmillan said the only concern was just how the track ends up with the forecast of some more wild weather in Adelaide late Friday and into Saturday.

“A wet track would be my main query with him,’’ Macmillan said.

“In saying that, it’s impossible to know just how much rain we will get,’’ he said.

And Macmillan said Just Jazz was starting to find her feet after a slow start to her racing career.

“I know she took 15 starts to win a maiden but she had a few excuses early that held her back a little bit,’’ Macmillan said.

“I really liked the way she won the other day, and a wet track wouldn’t worry her,’’ he said.
