Australasian Oaks Runner By Runner Preview

oaks1

WA mare who won the Oaks before running 3rd behind Awesome John in the WA Derby. She draws a sticky gate but has Craig Williams to navigate and looks right up to winning.

oaks2Score a brilliant win in the Adrian Knox at Randwick on a heavy track before she battled away OK behind Pennyweka in the ATC Oaks at 2400m. Looks a filly with huge upside and must be respected.

jennilalaProgressive filly who came from well back to hold off Arugamama in the Auraria Stakes last time. Where she ends up from barrier two is the main concern, but she’s got plenty of upside.

as time goes byRan well through the Wakeful and Oaks in the Spring and was well backed to narrowly beat Party Princess in the Clare Lindop Stakes last time. She looked like she’d had enough at the end of 1600m last time and draws a sticky barrier so the 2000m must be a query.

amatiGood effort running 2nd in the Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley before she got a long way back and made ground behind Gringotts at Sandown last start. Draws a good gate, trained by Chris Waller but would need to improve again here.

affaire a suivreWon a Cranbourne maiden before she was too strong for stablemate Running On Time in the Port Adelaide Guineas. The wide gate the biggest negative but she looks a filly who will stay all day and John Allen has an affinity with winning SA staying races.

running on timeSat on speed and looked to have her chance when 2nd behind stablemate Affaire A Suivre in the Port Adelaide Guineas. Draws a nice gate and gets Damien Oliver in the saddle who has won this race on four occasions.

more rewardWon the Hill Smith Stakes here at 1800m in the spring and worked home OK two runs back behind As Time Goes By in the Clare Lindop Stakes and was again working through the line OK in the Auraria. Must be respected.

killiako
Luckless three starts back and jumped in trip to easily account for the older horses last time at a mile. Draws to get a soft run on the inside and the stable are confident she will thrive up in trip.

arugamama
Progressive local filly who finished 3rd in the Clare Lindop Stakes before she was again good late running 2nd behind Jennilala in the Auraria. Draws out but she can figure.

party princess Has been a rapid riser since winning her maiden at Strathalbyn pulling good ground off As Time Goes by in the Clare Lindop Stakes and was set to run favourite in the Auraria before she was scratched. Draws a good gate and the 2000m should hold no fears.

proscenium arch Was on speed first-up in the Vanity before getting back her past couple where she has made ground. She draws a good gate, the stable won this race last year, but she needs to lift.

anphina
Has finished just behind the placegetters in both the Clare Lindop and Auraria Stakes when she looked to have her chance. She draws a good gate, but she’ll need to go to another level here.

whakamana
The second of the Busuttin/Young runners who has been to 2000m twice running 5th in the Group 3 Ethereal and 8th in the Wakeful back in the spring. Has found the line strong in two runs back, maps to get a nice run in transit and has been specked form $51 into $26.

starianna
The third of the Busuttin/Young runners and drawn nicely. Worked home OK when 2nd at Sandown last time but is another who needs to go to another level here.

moya lass Jumped a $1.55 favourite to win her maiden at Pakenham over the 2000m. Her run in the Group 2 Kewney was good, she went up $51 before being backed into $19 and must be respected.

rich result Two wins have come at 1400m but her past two here in Adelaide have been fair. Can’t see her winning if she gains a start.

my whispering lady Beaten 4.45 lengths behind Renaissance Woman in the Group 3 Ethereal in the spring. Jumped in trip to bolt in at Terang in maiden class now. Poorly drawn but she could run a big race if she gained a start.

ravin
Another unlikely to gain a start but she finished off strongly to run 5th behind Jennilala in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes. Progressive and not the worst.
