Broadway Lane Ballarat bound

Strathalbyn trainer Alexander Justice heads over the border to Ballarat chasing a dry surface on Friday with Broadway Lane.

Justice said proven form on the synthetic was the only option for the horse who doesn’t handle rain affected tracks.

“He loves it dry and has raced well at Ballarat previously,’’ Justice said.

“With the weather like it is in Adelaide, this was the best option, so we’ll go for a little holiday,’’ he said.

The former Victorian finished second behind the smart Ancient Girl on the Ballarat synthetic at her third start before winning there last June when in the care of Mitchell Freedman.

Broadway Lane caught the eye first-up in South Australia when placed behind Shooting For Stars at Balaklava and Justice said dropping back from 1200m to 1000m was ideal.

“I think the 1200m just saw him out the other day, she peaked on her run late,’’ Justice said.
