Jolly pair chasing Racing Rewards bonuses

David Jolly is hoping to secure some Racing Rewards SA bonus money with either Valentina Charm or Andamooka at Morphettville on Saturday.

The lightly raced pair come off second placings in their respective returns to racing and Jolly said they both should be finding winning form shortly.

“They are both knocking on the door,’’ Jolly said.

“Obviously both coming off good efforts running second, the 1200m looks ideal and with the bonus there this was a really nice option for them,’’ he said.

Jolly said the prospect of a heavy surface might play into the favour of Valentina Charm who was beaten 2.3 lengths behind Queen In The North at Balaklava last time around.

“I think she’ll (Valentina Charm) be alright in the wet, I’m not really sure with Andamooka,’’ Jolly said.

“But both horses have come on well from their first-up runs,’’ he said.

The Goolwa trainer opted to stay in SA with progressive three-year-old Declared who was nominated at Caulfield and has been freshened since winning consecutive races in provincial company.

Jolly said he was a horse who could find himself in better races going forward.

“We opted to freshen him and avoid the carnival, we weren’t quite sure he was carnival class.’’ Jolly said.

“But he gets into this race OK, and he might be able to find himself in a race like the Lightning at the end of the season,’’ he said.
