Crowther booked for exciting Lightning Stakes ride

Leading jockey Kayla Crowther has been booked to ride exciting Victorian filly Outback Miss in Saturday week’s $120,000 Listed Lightning Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville, the final feature of the 2022-23 South Australian racing season.

The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Outback Miss is unbeaten in two starts winning a Bendigo maiden by three lengths on debut before taking that to the city and scoring a two lengths Caulfield win last time out.

Price and Kent Jnr won the 2020 edition with Parlaphone while leading local horseman Will Clarken has claimed the last two Lightning features with Beau Rossa and Extremely Lucky.

Crowther, the 2019 and 2020 Dux of the SA Apprentice Academy, has ridden 86 winners this season to lead the South Australian Jockey Premiership and is poised to claim that award for the second successive year after riding 110 ½ winners last season.
