Jollys & Jake set for premiership glory

South Australia’s leading trainers Richard and Chantelle Jolly can put the icing on the cake of their 2022-23 season with a training double at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Jollys will claim a second successive Adelaide Trainer’s Premiership this season having produced 47 winners and trail last year’s tally by one heading into Saturday.

“That was definitely goal of ours late in the season to try and beat last year’s score,’’ Chantelle Jolly said on RadioTAB.

“We’ve got some nice horse going around (on Saturday) so hopefully we can get a couple of winners,’’ she said.

Jolly said a second successive premiership was a testament to all the hard working staff at their Morphettville stable.

“It’s a really good feeling,’’ Jolly said.

“Obviously winning our maiden premiership last season, to do it again just shows the hard work is paying off.

“We’ve got 60 in work, it’s a real team effort,’’ she said.

A second Adelaide Trainer’s Premiership has been made all the sweeter in 2022-23 with Chantelle's partner, former Dux of the Racing SA Apprentice Academy, Jake Toeroek securing his first Adelaide Jockey Premiership in the process.

“I’m really proud of him and what he’s been able to achieve,’’ Jolly said.

“It really goes to show how well he’s done this season and he’s over the moon to finally get it done,’’ she said.

The stables chances of grabbing some late season success on Saturday will come from Cold Case ($2.80 favourite with tab.com.au), Lady Simone ($5), Karacasu ($4.20) and Clamarc ($8.50), while they’ll saddle up $26 chance Ice Symphony in the $120,000 Listed Lightning Stakes.

“We were really happy with him,’’ Jolly said of Karacasu.

“He went into his first-up run pretty underdone, so we were pretty happy with the way he performed.

“I’m pretty confident going into Saturday that he’ll run well and if he does, he’ll head to the Behemoth Stakes,’’ she said.
