Jolly hitting the road to Jamestown with Kalamon trying to claim back to back Cups

RICHARD and Chantelle Jolly will try and continue a red hot run across a busy weekend of racing in South Australia.

SA’s leading stable took five runners to Murray Bridge on Wednesday where they had a training treble along with two seconds.

They’ve opted to run Keep Reading in Adelaide in preference to Moonee Valley on Friday night who is among nine runners across the state over AFL Grand Final weekend.

They’ll have five runners at Morphettville on the Parks and two horses heading to Jamestown on Saturday while they take First Rank to Port Lincoln in search of a Racing Rewards SA bonus on Sunday before Pointless Praise resumes at Gawler on Monday.

Richard Jolly will make the trek to Jamestown with defending champion Kalamon.

Kalamon won his maiden at Jamestown back in 2019 and defeated Fiable and Prince Jofra to win last year’s Cup.

“He obviously missed a run in the Mindarie Halidon Cup the other week, so we took him to the trials at Strathalbyn and I thought he trialled pretty well,’’ Jolly said.

“He had to beat Prince Jofra to win there last year, it’s fair to say he’d have his work cut out doing that this year, so looking at the race, if he runs somewhere near that he’s going to be hard to beat again this year,’’ he said.

Kalamon will be ridden by Sairyn Fawke, who will also partner stablemate Jazz Affair who was well beaten at Murray Bridge on debut.
