Hill Smith Stakes track report and speed maps

Track rating:
Good 4

Grass Coverage:
Good cover back to the true position. Fresh ground.

Water:
5mm rainfall in last seven days. Irrigation –Nil in last 24 hours, 27mm in last seven days.

Rail position and why:
Rail true. Moved back to the true position to use fresh ground after racing on the Parks track in consecutive weeks.

Last time we raced here:
Parks track was used last week. This  track was  last used on 23/9/23.

How it played last time:
The rail was out 9m from 1000m-WP and 6m for the remainder. Winners mostly finished just off fence to middle.

Verdict:
Back to the true position and a fresh pad of grass with no obvious fast lanes out wide. Expecting this track to favour horses on the pace and in the first half of the field, with plenty of straight to make ground out wide. Would not surprise to see backmarkers come into play later with bigger fields and speed on.
