Weekend Wrap: Maggie Collett back in the winner's circle. Ben Price scores a double, Chicago Storm takes Gawler Cup home

APPRENTICE Maggie Collett recorded her first win in almost a year when Anjopin made it successive metropolitan wins at Morphettville on the weekend.

It’s been a long road back to race riding for Collett following concussion issues, while the Sue and Jason Jaensch trained Anjopin continues to build an impressive record having won four of his last seven starts.

“I’m ecstatic, I’m so grateful for Sue and the family for putting me back on,’’ Collett said.

“It’s taken me a while to get back. It’s a massive thrill, I’m just so thankful for Sue for putting me on him.

“He’s a quirky horse, but he goes really good’’ she said.

Ben Price had a riding double with the Will Clarken and Niki O’Shea-trained Give Some Lip and Ashton Downing-trained Manzala while veteran horseman Ron Stokes also had a day to remember, the son of dual-start horseman Phillip Stokes, training his first winner for more than five years when Trumpsta was successful.

Meanwhile talented galloper Chicago Storm extended his outstanding record winning Friday’s Gawler Cup.

Trainer David Aldridge hoping there might be another run in the promising horse before a break after a solid effort in the Murray Bridge Cup at his previous outing.

“I thought at Murray Bridge he was a bit flat on the day and with the barrier he got back a long way,’’ Aldridge said.

“He’s going to be struggling (for races) in South Australia,’’ he said.

Jockey Jason Holder had a day out riding four winners.

He scored with the Jon O’Connor-trained pair of Sir Panama and Exalted Dame, along with Burning Bright for the Andrew Gluyas stable.

Justin Potter’s good form in the saddle continued with a double at Bordertown on Sunday.
