Queman chasing clean sweep of Gytrash Series

A wide gate stands between Queman and an unbeaten Gytrash Series on TAB Finals Day at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Shane and Cassie Oxlade trained galloper has claimed two heats ahead of the $105,000 Final (1200m) and has eased from $2.80 out to $3.30 from barrier eight.

Shane Oxlade said the change in weather and recent rain could help offset the awkward gate.

“I went back today to have a look through his form on soft tracks,’’ Oxlade said.

“He’s been placed in four of five runs on soft tracks, I think a few horses would be in a similar boat on Saturday.

“I just feel he’s a horse who shows up no matter what the conditions so drawing out there might not be a bad thing if we do get a bit more rain,’’ he said.

The Philip Stokes-trained Celsius Star has been the best backed horse in the race firming from $8 into $5.50 along with the Lindsay Park-trained Bellenger who opened $15 and is now a $10 chance.

Oxlade will saddle up Nasho in the $105,000 Rebel Raider Final and said he couldn’t fault the horse who looked the winner before running second behind an in-form Santastico last time out.

“I thought he was going to go straight past that horse the other day,’’ Oxlade said.

“So did jock (Justin Potter), he thought he was the winner, but it can be like that on the Parks.

Nasho is drawn barrier four and Oxlade said he would be in the mix.

“He should land a good spot, there looks to be some speed around him and if he can settle and they run along he’ll be somewhere in the finish,’’ Oxlade added.
