WA horseman Simon Miller looking at Adelaide with Amelia’s Jewel

STAR West Australian mare Amelia’s Jewel could be Adelaide bound.

Trainer Simon Miller is looking east in 2024 with the four-year-old and the Group 1 Sangster Stakes and Group 1 Goodwood at Morphettville are attractive options for the leading horseman.

Amelia’s Jewel hasn’t race since she was flattened in the $10m Golden Eagle in Sydney and despite spending two days with the vets post-race has returned to Perth and now spelling in superb order.

“She’s good,’’ Miller said.

“She came back and put herself up for a week here in the stable and is perfect,’’ he said.

Miller will follow the same path as last year running the Roma Cup before tackling the $4m Quokka in Perth, the race she was narrowly beaten by Overpass in last year.

“She’ll run in the Quokka and the lead-up (the Roma Cup),’’ Miller said.

“She’ll only have the two runs here.

“Whether I go to Adelaide or Brisbane, I’m not sure but the two weeks between the Sangster and Goodwood works out nicely, we could come over and run in both of them.

“It’s an easy segway coming to Adelaide,’’ he said.
