Racing SA partners with tripleSdata to deliver new timing solution

South Australian Thoroughbred Racing will have a different look on screens from January 1st 2024 with the implementation of tripleSdata’s SMART tracking technology.

tripleSdata’s SMART tracking provides the ability to correctly position each horse in the run, in real time, as well as recording individual timing for each horse including sectional splits and stride in a race with detailed runner by runner analytics available post-race.

tripleSdata’s SMART tracking is operational at all meetings held at Morphettville, Murray Bridge and Gawler.

“Racing SA is delighted to offer punters, owners, participants, broadcasters, media and our staff access to tripleSdata” Racing SA CEO Vaughn Lynch SA said.

“Having access to reliable, accurate and relevant data will enrich our product from a broadcast point of view which is fantastic.” Lynch said.

The mechanics behind the SMART tech is a GPS-RTK tracking device enclosed in a special pocket in each horse’s saddlecloth.

The information garnered from tripleSdata is a crucial tool used by punters, trainers and connections to assess a horse’s individual performance and provide a level of predictability for future performance.

tripleSdata are global leaders in the timing and tracking space and are providers for the solution in the APAC region.  They are based in Sydney, Australia and are the exclusive and global distributor of various SMART racing products.

Carlos Santo founder and CEO of tripleSdata said: “tripleSdata has been working for a number of years to develop, perfect and deliver world-leading SMART technologies to racecourses for the benefit of punters and industry professionals.

"Our SMART tracking technology and the collection of data plays a key role in how horses perform, and a track is prepared and ultimately races; they’re vital components in assisting trainers and jockeys to ensure their horses achieve their maximum racing potential.’’

A secondary benefit of the technology lies in its availability for Steward’s to use in analysing the integrity of races, in particular horse’s consistency of performance.
