Sarah Rutten hopeful Easy Campese can get consecutive wins

Murray Bridge trainer Sarah Rutten will be trying to build on her impressive record at Morphettville on Saturday.

Rutten has had three winners from her last seven runners and she’s hoping her stable can enhance what has been an impressive start to her training career having produced nine winners from 78 starters since saddling up her first runner in February last year.

Easy Campese comes off an impressive win on the Parks, his first win in more than two years, and Rutten said the horse was capable of repeating that effort on the outer track on Saturday.

“He really enjoyed settling off them the other day and really appreciated being down in the weights,’’ Rutten said.

“We’ll be looking to do the same on Saturday.

“This wasn’t the race we were going to run in after his last start win, but after looking at the nominations we thought it was another really nice option for him.

“He’s a lovely horse to train and I think the mile (jumping from 1400m) is his right distance,’’ she said.

Easy Campese will be joined at Morphettville by Lonrodex, a horse who was narrowly beaten at Listed level at Oakbank at Easter and then tried at Group 3 level, Rutten confident the horse can improve on his latest effort when beaten 2.1 lengths behind Keep Reading.

“He was five weeks between runs going in and missed a little bit of work leading into last start,’’ Rutten said.

“So he should be much better this weekend with some more work under his belt.

“We had a stab at the Group 3, he was outclassed and below them but I think he can run well Saturday ,’’ she said.

The stable landed their first interstate winner at Mildura earlier in the week with Lift The Bar successful and Rutten said the horse looks to have some upside.

“She’s exciting,’’ Rutten said.

“I really like the way she was able to win the other day,’’ she said.
