Bieg's Big Brute attracting big international offers

A wide barrier and significant overseas interest could see Chris Bieg left with just two runners in Saturday’s $120,000 Sportsbet Oaklands Plate (14000m) at Morphettville.

Bieg has accepted with three horses in the two-year-old feature and it’s no surprise that Big Brute has been the subject of some overseas offers following an impressive debut victory at Balaklava earlier this month.

“Gee he won well at Balaklava,’’ Bieg told the Racing SA Front Runner Podcast.

“Winning so impressively, being a gelding, there is a lot of interest and offers coming across the desk from international parties, so there’s a bit to play out over the next few days,’’ he said.

Bieg said Big Brute had come through his debut win in great order

“I would have liked a better barrier,’’ Bieg said.

“He’s going to be jumping from the outside but the horse is in fantastic order.

“Looking ahead he doesn’t have to run over the 1400m from this sort of barrier knowing we’ve got the Sires’ Produce now moved to July.

“There are a lot of options around for what we think is a pretty talented horse. He’ll be a blinker horse in time where he can really switch on and I think he’ll grow another leg then,’’ he said.

In contrast Teardrop Rotation has drawn a nice barrier having shown improvement in all three runs since debuting in Group 3 class during the Adelaide Racing Carnival.

“We through her in the deep end at her first start and the occasion got to her a little bit,’’ Bieg added.

“We set her a task (last start), the punters liked her against the older horses and I think she held her own.

“She’ll be a much nicer three-year-old but the step up in distance will suit her,’’ he said.

The stable was forced to search for a reason when it came to the disappointing run of Future Command last time out when well beaten at Murray Bridge, a horse who Bieg said will develop into a nice three-year-old next season.

“We scoped him, everything was perfect,’’ Bieg said.

“He’s still a colt, he likes to play the game, he probably won’t be a colt much longer but I think he’s going to be a very nice three-year-old,’’ he said.

Bieg said stable favourite Peacemaker would again acquit himself well earlier in the day.

“He’s way over the odds in my opinion,’’ Bieg said.

“He’s a war horse! He’s loving life, he’s in yard one, gets the most attention and is just loving life,’’ he said.
